Folkestone raceday at Pompadour 2010

Folkestone Racecourse Day at Pompadour stages first running of Amateurs Three Nation's Cup

The first race in the inaugural running of the amateur gentleman riders Prix Chairman Latreille Three Nation's Cup between Ireland, France and the UK took place in Pompadour, South West France on 11th July 2010 "Folkestone Racecourse Day" by kind invitation of Racecourse President Monsieur Francis Delord. Folkestone Racecourse has a long association with Pompadour and the two courses became officially "twinned" in 2007.

Jumping at Pompadour Twelve riders were invited to take part from the three nations in the 3400 meter hurdle race, but with temperatures soaring at 38 degrees in Pompadour and firm ground, just eight runners were eventually declared. The riders who took part were: John Dawson, Josh Hamer and Miles Seston (red caps of Great Britain); Andrew Doyle, Richie Harding and Roger Quinlan (green caps of Ireland) with Patrick Paihes and Praphan Phokaeo (blue caps of France).

Much of the early running was made by Josh Hamer but with John Dawson taking a crashing fall in the final circuit, Miles Seston (GB)always had the leaders in his sights and kicked on turning for home to win comfortably with Josh also team GB taking second place. Patrick Paihes finished in third for France with Roger Quinlan in fourth for Ireland.

Emma Santer Racecourse Manager at Folkestone who attended Pompadour along with Sarah Oliver from the AJA said: "Many congratulations to Miles on his first winning ride abroad and a huge thank you to all those in France who so kindly made this possible".

The next leg of the series will be held at Ludlow on Thursday 11th November where team GB will be looking to repeat their success.
